Art (1) - Sylvia Schofield A mixed ability group with teaching/help for all levels. Painting and drawing using mainly water colour but also pen and ink, gouache, mixed media, and acrylic. History of Art elements are brought into most of our art topics, and appreciation of artists and their techniques is a valuable part of the learning and ‘doing’ process.
11.15am to 12.45pm, Fridays. (Autumn, Winter Terms and first 2 weeks of Summer Term, after Easter).
Art (Pastels) – Paul Robinson For all capabilities with demonstrations and videos. Individual tuition for beginners in the use of pastels and what pastels and paper to buy, plus how to protect your hands!
9.30 to 11.00am, Mondays. (September to May)
Art (Self Help) - Pat Angel We are a friendly group who enjoy our painting and "chatting". We mostly do "our own thing" but this year we have studied and tried to emulate the big brush work of Ron Ranson. We have also had fun painting small pictures on wooden spoons.
9.00 to 11.00am, Thursdays.
Painting from Sketches - Ann Wheater Members will be using their own medium. Anne will demonstrate in pastels mainly, with some back up for water colourists. Acrylics, pencil and ink are all acceptable. Beginners are welcome. Maximum 12.
1.30 to 3.00pm, Thursdays.
Card-craft – Pam Robinson Card making and origami, plus iris folding and tea bag folding (you’ll just have to join the group to find out what these are!) for both the novice and the experienced. All you need to start is a craft knife and a mat, all specialist equipment is provided. The autumn term will concentrate on Christmas cards.
11.15 am to 12.45 pm, Wednesdays, September to May
Card-Making (Beginners) – Beverley Holt A small, friendly, relaxed group where absolutely no experience is necessary, so don’t be put off from joining! We make different styles of card and the autumn term features predominantly Christmas cards.
1.30 to 3.00 pm, Thursdays (Starts September)
Embroidery – Ruth Fitzgerald If you are interested in trying embroidery but worried because you have no experience, please don't be. Absolute beginners have produced some amazing work. For next term there is no single project, so if you would like to try a tray cloth or make a fabulous wall hanging your ambitions can be accommodated. If you have never tried 'flower bashing' then now will be your opportunity to experiment with this new technique. We even have fabrics and threads to get you started, so come along and join us.
3.15 to 4.45 pm, Wednesdays.
Knit, Sew and Natter - Maureen Gregory Would you like to finish that half worked cross stitch or knitted top, or do you have some crocheted squares that need converting into a blanket? Come along to our group and enjoy a friendly chat whilst completing your work.
11.15 am to 12.45 pm, Wednesdays
Patchwork – Evelyn Holt For all abilities, you don't need any previous experience, just bring a needle and a pair of scissors. Choose to sew by hand or use a machine. Members have previously made a doll's quilt, a double size quilt, cushion covers, and shadow quilting. There’s a machine, fabric for general use, and members help each other out with fabric.
Some previous experience preferable. Basic equipment required.
1.30 to 3.00 pm, Wednesdays
Sugar Craft – Dora Bowker A relaxing and engrossing hobby. Learn the tricks of the trade, step by step. Create your own stunning masterpieces - spectacular cake displays, table decorations, greetings cards and floral arrangements. Be inspired - the only limit to what you can achieve is your imagination - so join in and have fun!
