Aerobiking

Cycle in the dry and warmth and without the worry of traffic! The group isn't exclusively U3A because it takes advantage of the Leisure Centre’s "Over 50’s Aerobiking ". But Mike who leads the group is a U3A member. Beginners welcome. Cost £1.85 with a Leisure Club Card at £4 (for the over 60’s).

Badminton - 1
10.00 - 11.00 am Mondays at Congleton Leisure Centre

A mixed sex and mixed ability group. Members usually provide their own racquets, but other members sometimes have a spare or they can be hired. £1 per hour session.

11.00 am - 12.00 pm Tuesdays at Congleton Leisure Centre,

All abilities welcome. Will offer basic coaching tips to anyone who wants them – not compulsory! Shuttlecocks provided but bring your own racquet (the centre has a few available for hire). £1 per hour session.

Bowls (Indoors)
October to March at Congleton Leisure Centre, starting w/c 4th October.

Except for start times, all three indoor bowls groups are the same – just choose your day. £1 per session, payable on entering the Leisure Centre. Beginners welcome. The centre has a few bowls to borrow, but most members have, or soon acquire, their own.

Bowls (Crown Green Outdoors)
Tuesday 10.00 - 12.00 am – Brian Roberts. Easter to September in Congleton Park.
Thursday 10.00 - 12.00 am – Ray Angel. Easter to September in Congleton Park.
Friday 10.00 - 12.00 - Berwyn Jones.
Easter to September at Coronation Park, Worrall Street.

In the summer, bowls moves outside with a choice of morning and location.

Croquet
2.30 - 4.30 pm Thursdays, Easter to September at Congleton Cricket Club.

A fascinating summer game of skill and tactics. As played by Congleton U3A it's also great fun and (contrary to reputation) a very friendly game.
Beginners are welcome and our group includes several levels of ability. £1 per session.

Cycling
9.30 - 12.30 am Tuesdays

Around 20 miles or so, and usually back home by 12.30. Using local lanes, back roads and cycling trails plus canals wherever possible. Reasonable fitness is required - nothing excessive. The meeting place varies according to who is leading the run.

Cycling (Road)
9.00 am - 5.00 pm, third Friday of the month.

Rides of around 50 miles including a good pub lunch.  Starting locations vary and usually include a car ride to the start point in Cheshire, Derbyshire, Staffordshire or Shropshire.  Rides vary from flat at 14mph average speed to partly hilly at 11mph, involving around 6 cyclists.  No charge.

Exercise to Music
2.00 - 3.00 pm Tuesdays at Worral Street Scout Headquarters

Each session will include a warm up, stretching, an aerobic workout, toning exercises and a final stretch and relax session. Both the music and the level of activity will be appropriate to our membership and suitable for both men and ladies. Main aims are to contribute to our physical fitness and to have fun.

Golf Coaching
9.00 am - 12.00 pm Friday mornings at Congleton Leisure Centre.

Running on Friday mornings during the Autumn and Winter Terms. Starting in the Leisure Centre and, later, at a local driving range.  The programme is flexible, with small group and individual tuition, to accommodate both beginners and players with a little experience.
The group is reaching maximum capacity so early enrolment is advised.

Outdoor Tennis Section - April to October.
Details to be confirmed later.   Venue:  Gawsworth.

Soft Pedalling
9.30 am Fridays

Shorter distances and shorter times than the other cycling groups.

Table Tennis
2.00 - 4.00 pm Thursdays at the Leisure Centre.

You don't have to be an expert with a bat and ball, it’s for all abilities, and equipment is provided. Cost £1 per session payable to the Centre.

Tai Chi (Improvers/Advanced)
11.15 am - 12.45 pm Mondays at the Masonic Hall, starting Monday 20th September.
